Facing the Global Water Crisis: What We Know & What We Can Do
Billions lack access to safe water. 90% of natural disasters are water-related. And yet, many solutions already exist — or are waiting to be discovered.
This post explores the scale of the global water crisis, the funding gap, and how initiatives from local communities to R&D labs can change the future of water — if we support them. CrowdInBlue is building a space where water innovators, researchers, and supporters can connect to turn ideas into action.

@Ivan Hello! It's amazing to having you around here. 😀
@jpmontealegre eager to see how the community evolve 😊
Hello 👋
> 💧 What if the next breakthrough in clean water didn’t come from a billion-dollar corporation—but from a community well project in rural Kenya, a decentralized sanitation startup in Colombia, or a PhD student prototyping low-cost sensors in Spain?
CrowdInBlue was born from a simple but powerful belief: the water sector has all the cards.
Water is the most strategic resource in human history. Our community is filled with brilliant, passionate professionals. And unlike many complex challenges, everyone can relate to water, its urgency, its beauty, its importance. And yet... something doesn’t click.
Water is at the heart of our health, food, climate, and equity. Yet too many powerful, community-rooted, innovative solutions remain invisible, underfunded, or disconnected. Not because they aren’t good enough, but because the system isn’t built to support them.
We’re here to change that.
CrowdInBlue is not just another social or networking media. It’s a digital platform built for and by the global water community. A place where:
We’re creating a space that feels like a mix of LinkedIn for water sctor, Patreon for impact, Reddit for water nerds, and Twitter with purpose. And it’s built on open-source, federated tech to stay true to our values: transparency, autonomy, and climate responsibility.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll start publishing:
We want you to not just follow, but participate.
✅ Follow the projects you care about
💬 Join the conversation: share your insights or review a campaign
🌍 Submit your own initiative: we’ll help you shape it
❤️ Support a project, financially or with your skills
This is a platform for doers. For connectors. For those tired of watching brilliant ideas die quietly because they never had a shot.
If you believethat water deserves better, you’re in the right place.
Let’s make water innovation flow, together.

⁂ Article
🚧 CrowdInBlue is currently invite-only 🚧
As we continue building a trusted, collaborative space for the global water community, we’re opening our doors gradually. Right now, joining CrowdInBlue is possible only by invitation.
Why this makes sense:
CrowdInBlue is more than a platform — it’s a movement rooted in purpose, community, and shared values. Starting invite-only helps us:
✅ Maintain the quality and safety of our early network
✅ Ensure alignment with our mission and values
✅ Co-create with a first wave of users who inspire, support, and shape the future of the platform
This phased approach allows us to gather feedback, strengthen core features, and scale responsibly — together.
💧 Want to join the movement?
Reach out to us at contact@crowdinblue.org or team@crowdinblue.eu and tell us a bit about your work, project, or interest in water-related impact. We’re listening.
Let’s build this community the right way.
First post!!!!

We are happy to announce that we are now online.
We are building an open space for the global water community to connect, collaborate, and make waves together. Thanks for joining early! 🌍✨
This is the demo instance of CrowdInBlue, a digital space for the global water community.
Join us as we shape a shared current for water, equity, and impact.
Powered by the Bonfire federated framework, this platform is currently in development. We’re testing features, building the foundation, and welcoming early explorers.
